Just in case you haven't had enough, here's another question about the EA Trem.

I breadboarded it and it doesn't work.
The Voltages are pretty similars to the voltage table from JD's site, but I used different transistors, Q1 = 2n3904 (JD's = 2n3904) , Q2 = MPF102 (JD's = 2n5457 or J201), Q3 = 3904 (JD's = 2n5088), Q4 = MPF102 (JD's = 2n5457 or J201), i also put .1uF caps instead of the 3 1uF ones (Pretty big for a non polarized cap), 'cause i didn't have them.

Q2 is the only one that doesn't seem to have any sing, all the voltages are 0V (Gate and Source and Drain), everything else seem to be right.

Here's the schematic i'm using

Any Ideas of what could be happening?

Thanks!

Are you getting a signal thru it at all? I think the caps you substituted are too small for the effect to work, IMO.

Q2 is the actual element that does the modulating. Wierd that there's not voltage on it. Oh and those caps will make the LFO oscillate pretty quick. Try using 1uF caps instead.
I don't like Holland. Nobody has the transistors I want.

Paul Marossy

That was my thinking. It may not be osicallting at all because the caps are too small, aside from any problems with transistor/JFET biasing.

smoguzbenjamin

Yeah, JFET biasing might be an issue here.

Someone here built the EA trem a while ago (can't remember who) with 0.1uF caps and it tremmed, but so quick that the effect was barely noticable, it sounded more like a ripple as it where ;) As I mentioned, try it with the 1uF caps and post back :D

Well i bought the 1uF caps, i'llbe trying them tonight, so, i'll let you know the resulsts tomorrow...thanks!
