Hi I was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of really nice sounding fuzz/distortion unit. I have heard of something called a noise swash or something like that b4. Is this a good build?

There are so many good ones to choose from. Check out Ronoffgroove for a WONDERFUL set of samples and some amazing circuits. 8)

The Noise Swash is a Commonsound Collective pedal. More info can be found here: http://www.4mspedals.com/swash.html

Happy selecting. :D

You should tell what 'good sounding' means to you. Do you like the sound of a 60's Fuzz or do you prefer the sound of newer high gain distortions?
For a Fuzz I would say Tonebender MKII or a three knobber.
Maybe a Big Muff would also be a nice toy.

∇ ⋅ D = ρ
∇ x E = - ∂B/∂t
∇ ⋅ B = 0
∇ x H = ∂D/∂t + j
...and then there was light

the noise swash is very fun, also you can try the 4ms duo distorter

I got this board down there with one pot hangin off it, A hardwired 1k presets the gain.
I think it took a full 35 minutes to make.
I put in some BCxxx [actually many types work] and the hard grinding Fuzz overall was really great sounding.
This circuits gain is rolled off with the guitar volume, making it IMO very versatile.
Totally usable, very easy and very great souning.
It's on a 1'' piece of perfboard with sockets for Q's and input cap.
I think it's one of the Sili-Faces...basic FF, no gain knob.

Are you guys forgetting Joe Gagan's designs?.
He's got the most amazing fuzzes ever.
Most of the new members probably don't even know of him.
Check 'em out.
