a friend of mine (ie. dork who knows nothing about electronics !!!!) borrowred my FF, and without him knowing the (original) battery in there went dead.
so since he'd heard that zvex pedals almost never run out of battery juice he opened the unit... *don't do this you f+ck!*
so i recieved it from him today with a big apology..
he apparently has twisted a few of the wires from its place in a board, as well as put some solvent/cleaner of some kind (since he SPILLED soda!!! on it!!!!!! the pr+ck...) and has etched some of the traces on the PCB away. they're gone i tell you. :(

so if someone could PLEASE PLEASE take a pic or scan both sides of the PCB/board inside the factory i'd LOVE it!!

please help a guy out to get his FF up and running again.

Hmm... maybe I could use Coca-Cola to etch my future PCBs.

Sorry, I can't be of any help. Maybe if you take a picture of yours, someone can help you figure out what is missing...

cedric

it was actually root beer :) !!!!

my scanner is down and there's no digital camera for disposal here...

please someone.. DIY people - open your FF and scan the two sides :)
please please please.

Hal

most of us can't afford FF's     Maybe Mr. ZVex himself will pop up and help out

Cedric, This is only a guess, but looking at the pcb layout of the FF from Fuzzcentral.tripod.com, and comparing it to the component side of the Google images (search fuzz face), they're likely the same.  If you plan on using conductive copper tape, or spot soldering, I think it would work fine to help you fill in the missing portions.  I hope your friend remembers he owes you when he comes by an original interfax harmonic percolator. cedric

thanks. i'll try over there.

fuzz face circuitry?

hey - on a little naughty sidenote - if anyone has a PCB layout for a fuzz factory (we all know the schem is out there - even though i support ZVex and buy his products - well the FF so far :D ) - please email me (rasmusebay @ NOSPAM hotmail.com) or PM me!

thanks in advance.

You might also check with Zach and see how much he would want to fix it.

If this happened to one of my customers, I'd probably just tell them to send it to me with $5 for return postage....

bobbletrox

...the soda actually etched away copper traces?

Dood, I'd wouldn't drink that soda if I were you!

cedric

heh.. no he spilled the drink. went to get the tisue or whatever but then it was all sticky. so he brought his screwdriver along to "clean it up"/etch it away..

I think Marty was talking about my Fuzz Face (abbreviated as "FF" by lots of us).  I don't have any files for the Fuzz Factory at my site.

Now THAT'S service!!!
Zach, I went to Guitar Center in New Orleans (Harahan, actually) and saw a Wooly Mammoth fuzz in a display case. It looked too freakin' cool. Plus, I got to tell my friend, "Hey, I chat with the guy who makes those"

cedric

thanks.

but things have worked out.

thanks for your patience on behalf of my "attitude", but i was pissed.
thanks again.

 Oh, and my dog we-we'd on my Nano Head, can I get a pcb for that?  :D

smoguzbenjamin

I don't like Holland. Nobody has the transistors I want.

wow. nice one, dude. it's a miracle.

cedric

heh.. i know what you're thinking.
but some people from this forum have sent me a PCB tracing of the unit as well as a pic of the insides so now i can simply fix it myself.

Hey, I was just pushing some humor :D , but seriously where can I get the pcb for a Nano Head...ar ar ar

Mobisimo

I know everyone's thinking this, but it had to be said: why didn't you jam a red-hot soldering iron up your friend's ass?
