Dear Colin,

Thanks for your e-mail "in Japanese"!
I almost understood what you meant.
Do you want to appear my circuits and/or PCB patterns onto the web?
If so, I agree with pleasure.
And I ask you, please let me know your URL.

If you want to use my author on any Paper(ex. magazine etc.),
please send me one.

And one more request, please let me know your address and phone number.
My address and phones are following.
(EDITED)

My books are unfortunately not continued now.
(Only one book is continued, but this book has just theory matters)
So I'm writing my next book that will be published in this year.
The book's title will be "Hand-made Project ver.3".
When the next book is published, if you want, I will send to you.

Finally, I'm sorry my English is very poor.
When you send me next e-mail, please write in Easy English,
and I will be able to understand.

I wish everything's going good for you and your friend.
Thanks a lot.

Akira Ootsuka

Second e-mail, after reply in "Easy English":
Hi,

Now I'm visiting your web site.
Very nice!!
Especially Schematic archive.
I understood all.

I wish too many people DL my circuits and PCB patterns
to make good effectors.

If you have any question, please let me know.
I will do everything I can.

Thanks.

Akira Ootsuka

So there you have it, ethics taken care of.

Way to go Colin!

You're happy, he's happy, and now as a result of you doing the right thing, you and he will make many more people happy! That is very cool!

I hope this thread can serve as inspiration to others.

Take care,
-Peter

PS: When his new book is published, please post a link to a seller if you can (hopefully one with an English site). Cool authors deserve support. 8)

Now this is something.

If that "easy e-mail" had occurred before uploading/advertising,
a load of sh*t  (sorry: inconvenience) wouldn`t have happened lately.

But on the other hand: now we all know who stands where....
(the usual suspects...)

YEAH!!!!!!

Now where is that McTube article?????? :?

Ootsuka-san definitely goes on the good guys list.

I'm interested in seeing what's in his new book. I bet his look at your schematic archive will influence it.

Great outcome.

Next time you email him, tell him to get himself on the forum (if he isn't already) - sounds like he'd be a real asset!

Clear example of someone with a finacial stake on this matter that can let it rest and say it's enough milk out of that cow and get on with the next big thing.
Thank you Sir.

I e-mailed him and told him he should join the forums.  I would have emailed him beforehand had I known that what the author's address was back then!

I am truly sorry for not thinking this through before I uploaded/advertised  the schems.   Unfortunately to be totally honest about this situation,  as Mr. Eaze has pointed out Mr. Ootsuka is one of many author's on this book.  He wrote/designed the Flying panpot, Multi-Flanger and BBD analog echo articles.  There are at least 10 other authors to contact if the all the schems are to remain uploaded.
Colin may I suggest all the other schems to be deleted from your site?
This was definately a learning experience for me.
Jun

ExpAnonColin

I'm not going to delete the other author's work, but if anyone can get me their email addresses (I'l try this author, he may know them all) then I'll ask for their permission too.

Is it because it is a hassle?
The only way you will delete them is if the authors say NO?  I think the one thing I/we learned is to get permission before.  I will plead with you again, please delete the other schems from your site.

It's not a gigantic hassle, it's just that I think that getting this guys permisson demonstrated that the authors of this book didn't mind.  However this guy doesn't speak for the rest of the authors, and I'll say the same thing about the files on the server that I did before I got permisson-if anyone disagrees and wants me to delete the files, get me the authors emails and I will ask for permission.  If they say no, I delete the files no questions asked, if they say  yes, I keep the files up.
