Rehousing Morley Optical Wah

Hi, I love the sound of a Morley Pro Series II Bass Wah but can't fit one on my pedalboard. The pedal is just HUGE! I want to build one into a Crybaby housing. Is there anyway to do this?

I may be wrong but I think it would be difficult to put a Morlew wah circuit in a CryBaby chassis.

From what I've read and seen in Morley pedals they doesn't use pots to activate and control the wah. They uses optical system (LDR and LED if I'm not mistaken) to do it. Another thing, Morley's switch is located outside the pedal's upper jaw (don't know how to call it)  near the edge below while CryBaby has its switch inside the jaw of the pedal.

Having a custom-built pedal chassis is good way to go.
Oh yeah!

Yeah, that's kind of what I was afraid of. I figured I'd possibly rebuild the circuit board somehow, and attempt to rehouse the optical stuff and hope for the best. Worst comes to worst I have enclosures for two expensive volume pedals.

Building the circuit? Meaning desoldering the components and soldering it to a new PCB, that's a lot riskier than you can think  .

Here's might give you something to think: If your Morley uses LDR and probably a LED to drive it to control the wah, then it's just like an ordinary variable resistor, a potentiometer. With that, you can take out the LDR and connect the points to the pot of a CryBaby.

I have Morley Wah circuit in a breadboard that uses the LED/LDR to control the wah. I'm just planning to take out the LDR and put a pot instead when I'll make a house for it.

I don't know if my suggestion makes any sense. If it does, then just be careful if ever your going to trace out what the stuff the contols the wah. Otherwise, stick with my first advice. Good luck
Oh yeah!

use an a pot to control the led inthe led ldr situation
i also just wen to morley and oculdnt find your schematic..

but the pro II wah dont' use an inductor and neithe does the switchless bass wah  so does yours. if not it woudln't be ahrd to just build one in a crybaby case and go from there.

i did this with the bad horise some time ago

pm or email me i fyou have any questions

Yeah, I was definately thinking a pot would have to replace the LED/LDR, thats no biggie. I was planning on grabbing a cheap used guitar Crybaby off the bay and using the case. Basically a Morley clone in Dunlop housing with a pot... hmmm...
