I have been messing with the Duncan Amp Stack deal and found that just changing the 47n cap to 4.7n in 1973 would have rocked my world.  Lots more gain and mids, much more Marshal like EQ.

I see lots of instances here on the forum that just changing one part value totally changes a device from something that sucks to something that rocks.

Whether it is EQ or bias or gain...

One small step for man ...

hell yeah!  I just finished a pedal and although it sounded great on guitar it was sputtery on bass (the intended instrument) until i changed the input cap from 1.0 to .1  instant nirvana... and that's all it took.  Well it took me about 4 nights to figure it out too.  hindsight...

After a while you will know what to socket and what not to.

I'm just happy that you guys can mod your own stuff!  8)

VERY COOL!

Amazing how a cap change can make so much difference!

Of course one horse can run faster than another one - but which one? Details matter.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

I'm assembling a "Hit list" of folks that I knew in 1973 that "knew or should have known" that changing that one cap would have saved me from the montrosities I latter suffered at the hands of solid state amps.  At the time, Fenders were sort of associated with Country music.  Who knew that a few tone mod's would have cranked them good.
