I just built an orange squeezer. I'm just wondering
why the volume swell is so great unlike other effects
I built before.

I'm worried it might cause damage to my amp.

hey crawler

im not quite sure what you mean, but im guessing the overall volume that the pedal can reach.

if this is the problem, dont worry about it hurting your amp - you can hit the front of your amp with as loud a signal as you'd like. on most transistor amplifiers you will get the level to a certain point at which the amp will distort in a not very nice way - however in tube amps the art of slamming the front end tubes with a big signal can also bring some nice warmth to your tone.

this is what boosters are generally used for - to boost a tube amp into distortion.

with your orange squeezer if it puts out a very big signal in a tube amp, you might get some nice crunch by turning up the volume, but if you have a solid-state (transistor) amp, you'll probably just want to set it to the volume you'd like, as turning the volume up to high want get you anywhere.

hope this has helped

ps. i guess solid-state amps arent always transistors any more eh   oh well, i think you should know what i mean
