Does anyone know of a mail order source for these DC jacks? About a month ago, someone (Tiger?) from China had pics of his pedals with these jacks. They are the SCD-522. What I like about them is that they mount from the inside, so you can solder them into the ckt before you assemble the pedal. No desoldering to remove the ckt from the box either.

Ok...the weekend's over. SC emailed me back and stated they don't sell retail, or to distributors, only direct to OEM's. Minimum order is 1000.

So...does anyone know of a dc jack model that is similar to this, or what Small Bear sells, but mounts from the inside (external nut and washer)?

When I was in Toronto a month ago, I ran across an electronics store that had these in stock. I can't remember the street, (but I think Songbird Music was further down the same street) the name of the shop, or even how much they cost, but I did grab a few for my own projects. Anyone in Toronto willing to lend a hand? I'd like to order some for the same reasons listed above.

I would be interested in some of those too.  It would be nice not to have to desolder the jack if you want to take the guts out of your pedals.

that was > wizard < with his beautiful boxes.

Through his help, and that of Fret Wire,
there is a small chance, that we/you might
be able soon, to get some of those for a nice price
through the "usual suspects` " sources...

be a little patient, though.

I bought some of those off the shelf at Kiesub Electronics here in Las Vegas. I think they have a website and do shipping elsewhere. Maybe you could get some thru them?

Besides the assembly/disassembly advantages, Wizard pointed out that due to the retaining nut being on the outside, you could fit more jacks per side.

and mainly (for me with AC): it`s isolated...

Let's just ask Smallbear to order 522s instead of 523s.

I think he buys direct. In that case, we have to wait for his latest 1000+ to run out.

Fret Wire.
My local shop sells them. Sayal Electronics.
I'm not sure if their main warehouse does mail order but it doesn't hurt to ask /www.sayal.com

Tiger From China?

I used to buy jacks directly from SC. Nice Price and no extra shipping charges. That's because I live in Taiwan.

My price is $0.14/ea. for 500pcs.

I wish I could help you get this DC jack for lowest price ever, but don't know how to do that. Shipping and tax are my main concern.
I DIY therefore I am.

 My apologies for the name mix-up. $0.14 cents? Awsome price! That's so good, I'm gonna cry :(. I just finished another project in a 1590b, tight enough, plus having to solder the dc jack in the box. Another reminder why I hate the standard dc jack that has to be inserted from the outside, then soldered. But, I should have some of the SCD-522's soon.
