The recessing on the oak and aluminum were done with some cheapo wood boring bits. The diamondplate pattern gets in the way of knobs, etc, so grinding them away with the boring bits (use beeswax or chap-stick) lets them sit flat. It's important to find bits with flat cutting edges, many newer kinds slant inward, which won't really work.

Both pedals Look great Joe, I like the 89's Look, and the plate would be a tuffy, I bet the Knobs probably came out in the middle of a rib, Be my luck anyway, LOL.

I forgot to ask... what do you use to fasten the plates on the top of the enclosure?

The covers are held on by the pots/jacks/etc. I wish I wrote the "89" a bit larger, guess I'll have to fix that sometime.
