Just finished my BSIAB last night and was wondering if it was normal for there to be a high-pitched whine in there?  It only happens with the gain kind of high and it goes away when I roll back the tone control on my guitar.  Is that normal?

From the DIY FAQ:
QuoteI am getting a whine - like feedback but high pitched when I turn the drive all the way up...how can I fix this?

You probably are running the leads of the input and output too close or they are too long. Keep the leads as short as possible when laying out your box. You may also want to consider using shielded wire. To do this, shield the wire on one side only and then connect the single conductor like usual. For high gain boxes, I recommend shielding the input and outputwires from the jack to the switch and from the switch to the board.

You can also try using a 3DPT switch and using the outer connections for signal switching and use the "inner" connections for LED switching.

MAN!! That is EXACTLY what MY BSIAB was doing yesterday.
It was working fine out of the case; but when I boxed it up, it had that whistle/whine sound with the gain at 80-100%.

So.....I unsoldered everything, and (not rushing through it) I rewired and resoldered everything and put it back in the case. The whine was gone.
Sometimes I just have to start at square ONE to troubleshoot.  I'm not sure what it was, but it's gone now.

Can't wait for the BSIAB II.....
