Welcome to the forums.

Hmm to build a metalzone would require about a solid years experience in diy. A metalZone has a high part count with hard to found components like those dual pots for the eq. Cheaper to buy off ebay. What you need generally is
buy all these off:
www.smallbearelec.com
lets see you need:
a case to put it in
a stereo jack for input
a mono jack for output (stereo will also do doesn't matter)
a stomp switch
potentiometers (2 standard) 2 dual concentric
some way of making a printed circuit board or use perfboard (which probably wont work for a metalzone unless your box is the size of a half rack unit).
all the damn parts a metalzone has.
optional: paint / stickers

Seriously you'll pay $70-$150 or something for all that assuming you already have a soldering iron / solder etc.

If you want to build something diy start off with a true bypass box (to take all those tone sucking pedals out of your signal when not in use) as they are very useful and are fairly easy. A booster distortion (see the beginners forum at thise site) is also a good first project. A fuzz face might also be goer. Then perhaps try a metal distortion pedal of some sort (not a metalzone though - have a search around the forums for some good metal pedals).

I got a DS-1 on the CHEEP.
Building it would have been probably 6x the cost.
 Plus hassles.
 I plan on modding it.
I've never really looked at a MZ schematic closely, but it IS big, and getting all the pot tapers and knobs working right...whew, buying one is much quicker, sure fire, and probably a good bit less expensive, especially if you 'time shop' for one used, I had an opportunity to pick one up for probably 15-20, but I'm not a fan anyway.

Hey bone!!!

im from the Philippines too.

Building a Metalzone eh?? Well your gonna need a lot of things. probably the hardest thing to find are the semiconductors.

usually boss pedals arent worth building because you can easily get one cheap if you buy used.

Im not discouraging you in any way its just that there are lots of places where you can get one of these things for cheap prices. but if you still wanna build it ill offer you my help

send me a PM pare

Hmmm, the first time I looked at this post, I never noticed that we're from the same country. Welcome aboard, kababayan! :D

Pre, saan ka sa 'Pinas?

Let me guess, the MetalZone schem you got is the two-part hand-drawn, right?

Well, if you really want the tone of the pedal, and you have lots of salapi, I highly recommend just to buy the original one. One reason, the transistors and/or ICs etc. are 99.9% nowhere here in our place. In fact, some common transistors and/or ICs used in circuits you can find here in the DIY community are very hard (if not impossible) to find in our place. Not only those, we also don't have log pots, footswitches (check with ejbasses about this), hammond boxes (not sure) etc. Well, everything will be alright if you can afford to buy these things online, which I doubt now that the exchange rate isn't that good.

Since you're wanting a Metalzone, you're probably after a high-gain distortion, right? There are several distortions that I know that you can build with parts that are available in our place. If you can go to Deeco and/or Alexan, that would be a lot better :D .

Also, we just have to be resourceful in order to make up for the lack of many DIY parts/components/materials that are commonly found abroad. Just ask me or ejbasses or crawler486 about anything  .

By the way, bago ka lang ba sa paggawa ng effects?
Oh yeah!
