Maestro Filter/S&H Step Sequencer ?

I am about to build the Maestro F/S&H...mainly because of the cool Sample&Hold Feature...

The only think I'd like to have on this pedal besides Tonda's mods and the Moosapotamus additions is a sequencer, let's say 16 steps...
I'd like to be able to conrol the otherwise random S&H function...

Imagine this:
You have 16 LED's somewhat flashing like K.I.T.T. in Night Rider and 16 (!) mini-knobs, each controlling the sound for 1/16th of the total sequencer-circle...

Furthermore a pot to adjust the speed of the sequencer...and switches to select between 4/8/16 steps...

Is this just me dreaming or can this (or parts of it) be realized?  :shock:

similar 2 what U propose.....
Except,
"KnightRider" goes both directions.
ZVEX goes in one direction--- L-2-R.
A S&H-based system would B a "one direction" also.

I'll have a look in the Seek Wah...
has anyone ever looked into either the OohWah or the SeekWah and figured out how the sequencers work?
I neither have the knowlede to find out myself (although I am willing to learn ;) ) nor the $$$ to afford one of those pedals...

Look around at www.geofex.com, there's two articles that show how to do a sequencer with perhaps $10 in parts (3 chips worth).

You need:
- CMOS counter
- clock circuit to drive the CMOS counter through it's steps

The sequencer pots attach to the various outputs of the CMOS counter (sorry I've misplaced my CMOS book so can't look up parts numbers, but the CD40193 and CD4017 are parts that come to mine), and the wipers of the sequencer pots connect together and then to (say) a LED coupled with an LDR, giving you the 'sequenced' output.

On RGs page he's used a CMOS-based clock circuit, but you can also use a 555 or also the regular two-opamp tri/square LFO circuit.

Here's a very simple CD4017-based sequencer originally intended for modular synths, but the principals are the same (apologies to Tom G wherever you are for showing an old EFM circuit):

If there is enough interest I can draw up a schematic + PCB layout for a simple sequencer device, perhaps just with rate pot, step no switch, and intended for the LED/LDR coupling I described above.

Should you want to get more into it, you can use a variably-shaped LFO driving a LM3914 device, enabling much more than the regular L->R patterns - in fact, the patterns follow the shape of the LFO, so you can have L->R (rising sawtooth), R->L (falling sawtooth), 'cyclon pattern' (triangle wave), and so on. Then, you can get even more tricky and mix the output of the LFO itself with the output of the sequenced device - and this is in fact exactly what I do with my infinitphase. And THEN you can mix in or select 'random' voltages, or do slew-rate limiting..... I'm a control-voltage freak!! :twisted:

I've actually been drawing out an H11F3 based sequencer for a long time, based on basically a single LFO and a few flip flops... let your imagination soar on this one and you'll see where I'm getting.

I think I'm gonna check GEOFEX and understand that one first...
I might get back to you for the offered layouts, mikeb... :)
