may i ask what amplifiers do you guys use?

do you guys run your pedal into the clean channel of your amp?

or pedal to dirty channel of your amp ?

i was wondering about this for the whole day

if it's diy pedal to clean channel

i would get a good clean channel combo amp

AdamOn6thStreet

well I just got here, but I run a Traynor YCV40 on both channels.  For overdrive I use a catlinbread Super Chile Picoso to boost the gain channel of my amp.  In the amp effects loop, I have a Boss DD-20 (current favorite) and a GE-7 which needs to either be sent in for a Sniper Mod, replaced by another EQ (MXR 10 band?), or modded by me if I could find a list of what mods to do to make it quieter.  I use both of these on both channels.  The GE-7 stays on all the time and the DD-20 has many different faces, so it is useful.  Digital delay for OD sounds and analog/tape/modulated for the clean channel.

I use a Mesa Boogie Simul Sattelite Amp which is so loud and clean.

Modded CryBaby-MXR Modded DynaComp Modded Boss Sd-1 Danelectro Tuna Melt Tremlo (great value) Ibanez DM7 Digital Delay

Peavey XXX. I use effects through both the clean and dirty channels, though i realized this amp is best suited for metal ect...it depends on the effect as to where I place it or the 3 channels..clean, dist/ultra dist., or even in the loop.

I use an Ampeg J-12t, one channel i can crank at low volumes(15watt!)... Cheap and great...

I use FX with both Clean/ Dirty channels. When using the distortion channel, I mostly use boosts and compression. I tend to use OD / dist. pedals with the clean side.

I use a Staner Kute 25 (32W RMS). For effects, I'm using (now) a Whisker Biscuit, a Hotcake, a Fuzz Face (not DIY), a flanger that I bought from a friend, and sometimes the TSA and the LPB (both DIY). I'm finishing the Tremulus Lune too, and I will build the Phase 45 after it.

Thing lost my long long tube amp and other post...
So I'll surmize and hope it enters this time
High gain tube amp: I use a MkII 50w Marshall Master Lead, finicky about Fuzzes, does a Hard Rock vibe superbly, with all the nuances.
Cleanish tube amps: My working examples are DYNA ST 70, and RCA Victor...very accomodating of fuzzes and OD's, just fantastic cleanish tones, superb sounding amps...don't do the Hard Rock sound so well
These are ones I use and own, there are numerous alternate Mfr.ers that produce these type amps, 'one ought, three of the other' [or =, but different, comparable].
They are two different type 'horses', the MkII is a racing horse, and doesn't handle so well unless it's racing, excellent for hard rock stage use, the other two are 'around town' amps, excellent for a wide variety of clean to Dist tones...just won't go high gain like the high gain ones do.
Tube sockets in PCB are to be avoided IME.
Speakers...well that's at least half of the chain, and it's only as strong as it's weakest link...I prefer small watt Celestion original design Greenback Marshall Specialist Guitarist Speakers, or Original type Jensens...perhaps other posters have alternative driver suggestions, the 30w Blackback Celestions are nice...I'm not into high power handling speaker tones, I like my speakers to do the 'breakup' tone.
I have an RCA Victor [8$ + 40$ for new output tubes]...It sets next to a Deluxe Reverb and does very much the same thing, minus the reverb.
A well built tube amp is a well built tube amp, regardless of the brand name.
Modeling amps: very cost effective, great clean tones, I have tube jobs that do this, they don't particularly like stompboxes...have nice FX like phase and quack in my buddies Behringer 2x 12 combo, 'I' couldn't find the great distortion tone, neither could he.
SS amps: I tried some...probably something about the 2nd order harmonics that tube amps do...I opt for tube jobs invariably.
Cleanish tube amps I come by on the cheep sometimes, high gainer amp takes some 'working with' In My Experience.
A DSL sounds great, somebody couldn't get the channel switching glitch out of the three he tried, and had worked on.
I go for simpler' tube amp designs, 13 tubes is too much for me to try to keep working 'right' [my buddy has one that needs some new tubes for a long time] his Boog has 62 adjustable parameters [if you count the pull knobs too] and seems 'glanky' and noisy...probly needs too much work...
I like having an 'original' design tube amp, they're tried, true, stand the test of time like nothing else, sound great.
High Gain Tube amp: Hard Rock sound 'trick' with all nuances, finicky...only likes certain Distortions
"Regular Tube Amp: Like bassman etc., superb clean tones, very accomodating of FX, won't do the 'same' high gain trick.
Leo Fender and Jim Marshall had it figured a long time ago...IMO, nothing has outclassed these original designs.
After decades of testing, trying, listening, reading, Yer simple tube amp that does what you like is going to be very hard to beat.
Had a 100w Plexi: great for outdoor and very loud, I like smaller output section 'better', expecially for clubbin' and general inside usage.
Modeling amps: Im less well versed...my buddy's 2x 12 Behringer...waht a deal...clean side is superb, doens't like any external FX we tried, his opinion 'Distortion is thin"...not trying to open worms, but tube amps are at the top of this review...
SS amps: Price effective, portable, dependable [?] so they say, I have my differences on this one, I think there's a 2nd order harmonics thing [er something] missing...that's just me.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

I use a Carvin X60 - which keeps saying to me "when are you going to finish that ADA flanger?".

Live, primarily I'm using a Vox AC30TBX reissue. I use the normal channel somewhere around "2" and use two pedalboards full of goodies to make it sound almost as good as it would had I just cranked it up.

I use a Menatone Top Boost in a Can 80% of the time to get it to feel like it's cranked up a bit, and other pedals in front of that for "distortion" and fuzz and overdrive. The TBIAC is more of a part of the tone than an overdrive.

Occasionally, I use Fenders live, mostly a 63 Vibroverb RI with Jensens and a tweed Blues Deville 4X10. The Deville is a workhorse that is reliable and doesn't sound like a Vox (I use the Fenders when I DON'T want to sound like my "usual" tone, or for smaller gigs... though that Vibroverb still SMOKES and gets plenty loud....so what am I saying?)

In the studio, I mostly go sans pedals, or else one or two pedals for a specific tone for a specific track. I either use one of the above, or a Matchless DC30 for classy Voxy/marshally tones, Fender 65 Deluxe RI with Reverend 12" for Tele spank, Fender Pro Jr for Neil Young, Fender 65 Twin RI with Webers for clean power, Marshall Plexi (for the non-Vox Britrock thing) , older JCM 800 when I want that 80's rock crunch (or a Weezery tone) and many other amps for specific things.

In the studio, I might grab something to kick the amp over, such as a compressor (dynacomp or DOD 280) or an overdrive (Mena Foxy Brown, Hot Cake, homemade boosters) and use the amp's tone. Then when I go for something off the wall, it's usually one of dozens of crazy fuzzes and maybe a memory man. For straight distorted tones, I usually use the amp's tone however.
