Hi Everybody - even you, Rolls,

There are only a handfull of sources for wah shells.  Of course, the most obvious is Dunlop.  The second is China - the people that make the cases and/or guts for Carvin, Guitar Man, and HiWatt.  The third is scavenging.  There is a fourth, but that involves a pile of cash - having your own pattern made and getting them manufactured yourself.

I choose the components I do because of what I hear in the circuits when I use them.  Does that mean you'll hear a difference between a 4.7uF e-cap and a 10uF e-cap?  Not necessarily.  I'm blessed/cursed with out-of-the-ordinary hearing.  I can't sit here and say you'll hear a difference in caps because you probably won't.  I won't say "No way" because I doubt I am the only person in the world that has "different" hearing.  For me, there was no clear cut answer to the 2nd part of Arno's question, so I didn't answer it.

Why do I not post here on a regular basis?  Lack of available time.  I hadn't even visited Aron's site in years.  I build everything myself.  And I mean everything.  No helpers, assistants, crew, gnomes, etc..  That leaves precious little time for schlepping around the net.  Had I not been made aware of the posts I still wouldn't be posting.  If I hadn't signed up to post I wouldn't have been flagged and known to respond to questions that have come since my first post.

If someone wants to contact me, it is much easier to email me directly as I do answer all my emails.  Asking a question on this, or any other forum, is a really hit-or-miss way of reaching me.

I have already supplied a ton of information to the DIY community via R.G. Keen and my own site.  (R. G. and I go back a long way.  Great guy.)  I did my research before there was an internet. That involved phone calls, faxes, and road trips.  I've been on the wah trail since they came out in the '60's.  Do I have information that no one else does?  Yes.  I was lucky to be at the right place at the right time on more than one occasion.  Does that mean I HAVE to share that information?  Not at all.

Rolls, if you think that insults are the way to get information from me - or anyone for that matter, you are sadly mistaken.  Me thinks you doth protest too much...
