Here it is.... this is a little bit of a trick however, because this is the old version... the new one has some fixes, and is basically the same.  You may have to hand select your jfets though.  you want the trimmers to bias somwhere between 22k and 30k or resistance for the best results.  more may be ok, but less than 22k you may not get much overdrive, and might get some really gated tones.

Brian what value for the pot between q1 and q2?

Intresting ckt for sure. 8) BTW, do you mean MPF102?

yeah... screwed that up... mpf102... ill have to edit that.

and yes it is a 100k pot between q1 and q2

Thanks for sharing Brian. Your pedals, especially the Liquid Sunshine have gone over really well on the Harmony Central Effects Forum. Keep 'em coming.

Beautiful design...I'll have to give it a shot

That's the first use of  positive feedback I've seen in a distortion circuit. Thanks for sharing.

what the positive feedback adds is very subtle, but it is what really makes it sound good.  through the 4m7 resistor there isnt a lot there, but if things start to get mismatched in transistor selection get ready for some oscillation.

very interesting circuit, I'll have to try this one out.  I've tried +'ve feedback in OD circuits too & would agree it's a very subtle effect.

MartyMart

Thanks for sharing that Brian ... V-nice of you :D

Alright....
Who's gonna do the PCB layout?  :)

Thank you Brian Marshall, that is nicely drawn, feedback is a circuit option I've not seen alot of experimenting and in depth analysis on. Seeing it is channelled through the .0047uf, this voicing of it would let just very high frequencies enhance shimmer, I estimate.
The small cap and the rather large 4m7, I would've guessed very little signal would pass through this feedback circuit.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

Heres what I managed to do in an hour :)
status if it works = unverified (I think this is the 3rd layout I'm posting here :icon_razz: )
I hope I got the transistors in there in the right direction

markm

I'll give it a whirl.

Kinda messy but, I had a hard time figuring out where to place things.
I started over 3 times!
Please give a look and lend an opinion.
This is unverified at the moment.

Any of you guys think the layout on here look right?
I thought about building it tonight to see but, would like some opinions.

markM ... PINOUT !!
5457/MPF102/J201 are all D S G not D G S   :D :D
Also , those little "brown" Jfet images are totally reversed ....

No , your input enters the "source" and not the "gate" ... needs a redraw .. sorry !
