soldering practice

it's been a very long time since i've soldered -- what would be some suggestions as how to practice a bit before i try and solder on my first stomper project?

Buy some old PCBs from a local surplus electronics store and practice de-soldering and re-soldering the components.  That's what we did in electronics school.

I'd say go ahead and build some simple perfboard pedals.  Just use sockets on the transistors.

Everybody always needs another axis fuzz or multi-face.
