I see that thse days there is an ongrowing interest in GOG great little Tube Reamer...

I want to put Joe Davissons Amber Boost in the spotlights... its a similar crkt with great tone

Worth a shot!

(try the diode coneccted MOSFET thingy insted of the stock MOSFET clipping)

On a similar note, here's a funny little article where an electronics guru really talks down opamp-driven effects, whilst talking up his Fetzer-like JFET circuit.  Says the clipping of opamps is "ungraceful."  Bwaahahahahaha!
