Ive decided after what seems like forever that I was going to break down and buy an inductor for a wah i was putting togather and finally did. The last time i worked on it I failed. This time i got it! Its amazing how hard such a simple circuit can be. I socketed a lt of the stuff on it so its time to experiment until i get the sound i want. I recently bought a new VOX 847 and it sounds crappy! I dont reccommend those to anyone. I sold it 2 days later but took some gut pics before I did. One thing i did notice there being a shortage of about Wahs was the lack of gut pics. I think that would have helped me a little on this one. Maybe ill try to make some available some time.

Jimbob glad it worked out for you. It does get frustrating at times to say the least. I just bought an 847 off ebay, but it wasn't new. It had a bad pot. Since it was what I wanted and my wife paid for it for Christmas, I can't give you the low down on it until after then. I have a lot to learn about wahs. I'm just getting into it, and never owned one. I got a really thrashed non-working Dunlop off Ebay too, to put my Gargletron in. I will try to bring it alive, just to hear the difference between the two. For $10.00 though, I made a good deal if only for the shell. From what little  have read on them, the inductor is one of the key components to great tone. Something like "fuzzle inductor", and there's a Fulltone Halo too. Like I said, this is a whole new avenue I've never been down, so I'll have to acclimate my ear to wah tones. From what I've seen of the PC boards, there is not a whole lot to them, so they ought to be easily customized.

Ive socketed alot of the things on mine and have tried some 2n222's, 108b's, and 5088, 5089, 2n3904 trannys. I have a blue NorthStar pot and a yellow dunlop fasel Inductor. Recently Ive sold a new Vox847,early 70's vintage Crybaby w 5301? TDK Inductor and fulltone pot, and even an empty wah shell (29.99)  and out of all of it I like my new Dunlop 535Q, and this one I built. The 535q is VEry versitile! but can probably use a better inductor. Im sure ill keep searching for the ultimate sound- trying everything. Eventually I want a try a stack of dimes inductor from Stewart Castledine.

I have not seen schematics for them, but since you've owned the original and 535Q, how much is involved to upgrade the original Dunlop to a 535Q? I would definitely like to try that.

No can do as far as i can tell. Its all smt parts. I just finished adding a buffer and dc jack- not getting ready to add a 6p1t switch for cap switches from geo. I have that on my 535q. It makes the wah really versitile.
