using all germaniums in my fuzz face...

so i understood you can use trimpots and not resistors so i can "lower the gain" by raising the potentiometers for q1 and 2. my question is what resistors to swap?

For a Germanium Fuzz Face I would replace the 8K2 resistor on the collector of Q2 with a 20K trimpot.  This won't change the gain of the transistors, it'll just alter the bias of the transistors.

Set Q2 for -4.5V to -5V on the collector by adjusting the trimpot, and Q1 should land somewhere in the range of 1.1V to 1.4V (or so).
