I'll soon make another ruby :D

what other FETs than 2n5457 can i use? (i've got loads of transistors lying around)

and has anyone made a ruby with a line-out/headphone-out?
if so, can you tell me how?

greets
bert :)

The FET type isn't too critical since it's just a buffer.  Almost any n-channel J-FET should be fine.

For a headphone output, add a small resistor in series with the output, 47 ohms should be fine.  Make sure to keep the volume set low since it could easily damage your ears!

I'm not sure what would be necessary for a line out.

how do i know what transitor is a J-FET??

i thought about making a headphone/line-out with a built in load and a volumepot, i just don't know how to do that :P

Check out the DIY FAQ linked at the top of the page and find the section about J201 replacements.  There's a list of equivalents there.
