Basically, whether there was a schematic available for this unit. I've tried one out once, and it sounded really nice for leads. It seemed to mix well with Marshalls and Fenders, so I figured I'd see if there was any schematics on the web...

It works really well on clean, and really does make a difference.  Even if there was a schematic available it has the BBE Chip in it that is not available to the public.  The 601 has the early one that BBE used to make themselves.  The newer chips are made by NJM (NJM2153).  The Sonic Maximizer does have the schematic in the manual.

I'd trace it out, but the effort would be futile.
