Am I forgetting diode/schematic current flow?

It's been a while since I was done with electronics school (1992) but I could swear that current flow through a diode flows AGAINST the arrow on the schematic symbol. I, of course, can be wrong. Almost every schematic/article I've seen since being involved in the diy world shows that the opposite is true. If I am wrong that is crazy thing to have been in my head. I would have had to have fallen asleep on the day they taught diode current flow and had a dream of the exact opposite lesson. Anyone?

I think this is an issue of conventional vs electron current flow.  This page helped me understand a little of it:
http://www.allaboutcircuits.com/vol_1/chpt_1/7.html
Scroll down a bit and there are diagrams and a discussion of diodes and using each notation.

*Disclaimer*  By no stretch of the imagination could it be said that I know what I'm talking about-  I'm just learning this stuff.

Thanks Alex. I knew I wasn't crazy. The school taught true current flow so that's why I was confused. A lot of schems referring to where the current is going (for whatever reason) have it backwards and it was driving me nuts for like 3 years.

I know that you shouldn't try to follow electrons when looking at a schematic but it depends on the situation. Sometimes you have to.
