Hello everyone,

Finally,  after several days of trying to log into this forum I got through.  I've searched through the archives and noticed that some of the users in here have already build their own Jet Phaser Clones.

I was hoping to do the same.  I've been searching all over the net to find a copy of the schematic.  If anyone has and is willing to share, please let me know.

Thanks

It would be nice to see GGG or Tone Pad make a PCB for this great pedal. I'd love to have a 5 stomp switch model for this phasor. I know a lot of people ask about this phasor -- it seems like it might be a popular project.

Hi, I saw your message today, and had a look in my archives ;-)

I found the service manuals for both the Roland AP5 and AP7 phasers. I've uploaded them on my site.

www.GodiksenNet.com look in the schematic section.

ThaNx!!!! 4 the Phasers Red!!!
If U run across a schemo of the Boss  EH-1 Ehnahcer, LMK.
WOW!! great stuff!!

I don't see them. Gone already?

The Red Rooster

The requested schematics are still up at my site:

www.GodiksenNet.com in the schematics section

You have to scroll a bit down; schematics for the Roland AP5 and AP7 are placed right above the schematics for the TC Electronics boxes.

If you can't find them now, please PM me you e-mail adress and I'll mail you them.

Sorry Kurt, I had my java off so could only see boss pedals listed. Now I got them. Thanks!

The Red Rooster

No problem Dan, I'm glad you found a solution.

If you dont have a scope handy, put an led between then junction of R30(100K) and Q2 (SKA30AY) and the 0V rail (point 8). This will show you pulses being sent from the Oscillator at Q3/Q2.

The rate control in conjuction with Q3/Q2 acts as a voltage controlled oscillator, with the fet doing the switching.

The pulse can also be checked at the out put of IC1 Pin14 Inverted and pin 8 normal. The pulses at point 10 and 12 are saw tooth. The pulse at pin 12 and pin 9 on IC1 are almost square waves, as is the pulse at the junction of R30 and Q2. Hope this helps you guys out.

Do not use point 8 as the test point, it  should be point 15 = 0v

I have almost finished my jet phaser clone, and it sound awsome. I have a Beebaa and a Phase 5 (which is effectively what the jet phaser is) and the jet phaser kills the bee baa/ phase five combo.

I used 2N5457 Fets in my clone, if you use them then be carefull of the pin orientation. Instead of IS5558 diodes i used IN9148 signal diodes.

and LM324s for the IC;s i tried TL074 but the gain is too high and creates alot of noise.

instead of the S2C1000GR i used a BC546 , and instead of the 2SC373 i used a BC547.

Again be careful of the pin orientation. The TO92 configuration has a fer variances which may trap you.

When u adjust the on board trimpot, i suggest you listen for the ritchness of tone. This seems to be the point where it works best across a wider bandwidth.  Bass playes may like to adjust down abit so it has a bassier sound.

hope this helps any prospective builders! :D

IN9148 should be IN4148.. sorry

Darkside, you say it sounds 'awsome.' Could you please expand on this because there doesn't seem to be anything special in the circuit to make it sound any better than the EH Badstone, I'm curious.

its a very smooth sound with a very tight fuzz effect, unlike the bee baa that has a rough sound, the jet has a much melower sort of fuzz.. hard to explain.. but the Beebaa is very gravelly the jet is more sand like (if that anaology works). The phase effect itself.. is pretty much standard.. it has a nice "gurgling" sound.. sounds alot like a wah wah crossed with a phaser. I spose its just unusual and that is what impressed me so much.

Hope that all made sense.

OK, thanks - probably not worth me making one up. It's just the phasing I'm interested in. What I've been after for a long time is a really deep phasing effect which I suspect needs some fancy dedicated filter ICs like the SSM2044, long defunct.

Darkside,

How did you cross reference the components?  I used the NTE cross reference website.  Naturally,  all the replacements were NTE.  Also,
What type of input/output jacks did you use.  I see that the Schematic calls for a DPST input Jack.  Did you use one?  If so, where did you get it?

DPST Jack - availble from mouser in a stereo version. Its pretty simple to pull it apart and take the  second channel out if you want.

I cross checked the parts via manuals not by NTE x reference. NTE stuff seems to be so expensive.

Just make sure you check the pin out details on your fets.

I would suggest that if you have any doubt about your pin outs, get a few extra fets and try dif pin orientations in the fuzz (jet) section of the board. It wont take you long to work out what the pin outs are, coz it will either work or not.
