has anyone ever used a switch with an led in it?
This one.
i bought one at radioshack and i can't get the light to work. it's a SPST pushbutton switch with a third point on the side.

Wgat's the DMM Beep mode say about connections N/C's before/after 1 activation?
Watch the 'high voltage, enough to give you a good Zap at 125v AC
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

I've never used one, but how do you have it wired up?  my guess would be that the third lug gets connected to ground.

what's DMM beep mode?

I believe you will need a fairly high voltage to get the light to turn on.. and it might have to be AC too (as it is designed to be used on the mains).

It depends on what kind of light is being used, in this case its probably something that is "For 125VAC only" :). Neon maybe? I dont see LED mentioned anywhere on that page.

I have an LED mains light however, that "says" it will run from anything from 9VDC to 120VAC.

that would probably be cool for a power supply though... if you actually want a pushbutton on-off switch, instead of a toggle or rocker, for some crazy, strange reason, such as "uh, it's gots a light innit!" :)

the light gets connected to 120VAC and then lights. This won't work on battery voltage... IF it's a LED (which I doubt, but who knows) and you can open up the switch you can replace the series resistor with a lower one.
