is there anyway to mesure speaker impedance with a dmm???
thanks in advance,

AFAIK a good estimate is to just measure the resistance with a DMM, the curve of impedance starts a bit low, then goes a bit up to a peak, and goes down again to a bit under the specified impedance. I believe you can make a educated guess by measuring it in DC, but wait for some more replies before you might blow up that speaker okay? ;)

I'm sure I've read this a few times. Good enough for a guesstimate. It will tend to measure a bit low; a four ohm speaker might measure three ohms, an 8 ohm speaker migh measure six ohms and a 16 ohm speaker might measure between 12 and 15 ohms.

Of course, this assumes you have one of the common (almost universally common) values of speakers. Somewhere at sometime someone probably made a 13.5 ohm speaker -- hope you don't have one of those.
