I have a TS9 that sounds nice, but has too much high end.  The tone pot does not seem to fix it much, even when turned fully down.  Any ideas, or tricks to cut the high end? I have posted on this topic before, so I am sorry for the repetition, but I just can't get rid of the treble!  Thanks!

You could change a value in the tone control, or
Add a small cap to ground from the signal path...somewhere between the input and the output, or increase the cap value across the diodes, reducing the amount of treble clipping.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

Quick answer: read the *technology of the tubescreamer* article at www.geofex.com and look at the "bass boost mod". If you are running the TS9 tone knob at 7-9 o'clock, you will be able to run it at around 3 o'clock for a similar amount of treble. This gives you a lot more room to back off the treble.

Alternate answer:
It's always nice to have a little bit of context with a question like this. Are you talking about a DIY TS9? What kind of setup are you using (amp, guitar, other pedals, etc.).  If your amp EQ is really bright for your clean sounds, just stomping on the TS9 might not sound too cool. Some post effect EQ can work wonders with any OD/distortion if that is practical for your setup.

It's an original TS-9 that you have - you didn't build it did you??

What kind of amp are you going through?

It's an orignal, mid 80's version I think.  I did the TS808 mods to it as far as the IC and the resistors go.  I also added true bypass (per the R.G. Keen method).  Even before all of this it was too trebly.  I use it after another TS9 on my pedal board and have no treble problems with other pedals through the amp, which is a Semi-home made Fender twin with one of Doug Hoffmans AB763 boards in it.  I have control over my treble response everywhere except that darn TS9.  The tone pot doesn't seem to bring it down at all!  Any further thoughts?  Thanks for the help!!!
