btw im sorry for pics :( i can't read well the ic's value

Wow, that looks pretty complicated for a distortion unit.
BTW, that are some HUGE electrolytic caps... Does it run on 9 volt? Or is there a charge pump involved?

j0shua

it's not 9 Volts unit, this big guy works whit 14V external power supply, the midle push B. is a boost for AMP Racks Unit.... i test this effect and WOW have very agressive Distortion and you can play any kind  of distortion..... great overdrive to Metal Monster .... im  impressed whit this unit.....

the Transistor is 2N5089 ...... and only have 1, but have many Germanium Diodes... the pot's value is : Warp ( 1M ) Gain ( 250k ) Vol(100k)... when i press the Boost B.

enjoy!

This is the info i found about WARP FACTOR :

It's the first stomp box that injects Nu Metal energy into every amp. Simply set the selector to Combo or Halfstack, insert it between your guitar and your amp's clean channel, and there you have it - that dark, heavy chunk that would otherwise cost you thousands of dollars to conjure up. That sought-after drop-D sound is the product of highly charged, low-frequency energy that no battery-powered circuit can deliver. That's why the WARP FACTORâ,,¢ get its juice from a wall wart.

this unit is like hell, better than :

Proco Rat Distortion, Ds-1, Boss Metalzone, Etc......

jimbob

anyone gonna trace it? reverse it?
"I think somebody should come up with a way to breed a very large shrimp. That way, you could ride him, then after you camped at night, you could eat him. How about it, science?"

j0shua

I dunno, but i order 1 , i test 1 unit from a friend after repeair ( 1 Diode from 14v burns ) when i test the unit to see if ok  holly SH*@^#!
this one of the best distortion i ever play and have great gain and sustain WOW i loved........ oh yeah the boost button was incredible! put my amp in heaven!

im going to make some sound's demo when i get my Effect

Quoteanyone gonna trace it? reverse it?

I can give it a try, but I need more and higher-resolution pics.

j0shua, can provide more pics? Send me a pm

Bye,

Joep

I could try to help here, too.

Started tracing...

The power supply for this is 14 AC, right? They are using a Delon voltage doubler to get V+ and V- power supply of about 20V. They must be a bit paranoid of ripple noise, because filter capacity is 8800 uF (the 4 big electolytic capacitors) and they also seem to use zener diodes.

j0shua

Yeah, german don't made garbage hehehehehe, german do very well the things :) ...... Thanks God! .....

Almost there. Despite looking complex, it's not.  Opamps, diode clippers, EQ.  Quite a few stages but nothing complicated.

I'm not too sure about the chip marked CPAP0230, what's the number above it?

One of the diodes D1, D2 is a zener (I think D1) could you check the labelling for the value?   At this point that's the only "funny" diode.

Some of the values, particulary the caps, and especially the small blue ones and the electro's are not readable.  A cap list would help a lot.

Thanks for posting the pics!!!

Hey Joep - are youi going to take a stab at this one too?
Send:     . .- .-. - .... / - --- / --. --- .-. -
According to the water analogy of electricity, transistor leakage is caused by holes.

I think the number is "3079P", so I'm voting for a MC33079P quad opamp.

j0shua

yes it's 3079p the 14 pins Ic second number

a cap list hmmmm i can try but i don't have the unit here :( im just repair faster and get some pics..... btw i get a sound sample

Arno van der Heijden

Rob, how's the tracing coming along?
