Breadboarding.

I am thinking about buying some breadboard from aron, just ordered a tonne of switches   .. But I have no idea how breadboard works, anyone tell me what you  are supposed to do with it? the first project I undertook I just etched a PCB ala press n peel.

I love the Tool bass sound,  do you know what effects the bassist runs? in particular the lateralus sound.
