Sans Amp Troubleshooting

Hi,

My apologies for posting this on the build your own forum but  I have a SansAmp Classic that when the effect is switched on, there is no sound.  When the pedal is switched to 'bypass'  only a faint distored sound comes out.  I gets only slightly louder and more distorted the harder I play.  It sounds very much like if you were playing a tube amp and unplugged the power allowing the residual power to drain.

Any ideas of what is malfunctioning?  BTW the switch is the x-wing type.
