Hey all.
I was wondering, for smaller, simpler circuts, could tins like an Altoids tin, or perhaps one of those ....stash tins... that you could put your....keys in? I was looking at them, and I think if you used them gently the wouldn't be so bad.

Yes you can use them and some people have.  You can't put a stomp switch because the metal is weak but you can use a toggle switch.  If you search the forum for Altoids tin or just altoids there should be a few pictures of 'pedals'.

i build little headphone amps/boosters/acoustic sims/eqs for general listening use for friends in altoid tins all the time.  if you go to target they have these myntz brand ones that are 2 for a dollar in a bag, they work great.  gotta be careful with layout but they look killer when you get it all fit in there.

I've used Kiwi shoe polish boxes before, that is until my local fry's started getting in hammond boxes by the load...

be careful when drilling those things...they don't like drill presses all that much (warps the metal). Hey, Triska...I'm in the same job as you there...my dad always had like 50 of those things (though I don't see why...I'll stick to my CSA approved hiking boots thank you very much) to polish his shoes...they're real nice peeps...they're a bit stroner than altoids tins!

Frys has hammond boxes?!?! Is that specific to your region or is this commonplace?

it should be commonplace for fry's, since their outpost.com has them too.  We have all the common sizes like the 1590B and 1590BB.  They have better prices than mouser....   If not, ask a sales rep. to get a couple in for will call.

They have them at my Fry's in Los Angeles too. They also carry LMB.
