Hello, Your's web-site are very good for all DIY.
I have realized this PCB project:  (tell me something about)

http://web.tiscali.it/boxsmt2clone2005home

or on this summary-text-page

http://web.tiscali.it/boxsmt2clone2005home/site_map.htm

NOTE: The photo-galleries (excuse-me for not clear) are here only in order to exemplify the practical realization.
Please use this link for express-download the FULL-PROJECT of PCB:

Thanks for all suggestions.

WHY A PCB SO SMALL AND COMPACT ?

This pcb-project is necessary because the first-pcb-beta-version was very noisly !!!
Without change any component, but changing ONLY the PCB, IT SOUNDS VERY WELL and works!!!
But it was very difficult to design it, without seeing the original PCB.
Thanks very much to "The Red Rooster" for the pubblication on his site.
In fact, I re-design the pcb-project in a very new similar way.

WHY THE TRIMMERS ?

I think that the sounds of any box has to be hear before the real join in "TheMyBand".
So it must cost the less possible or "nothing"... This is for a first beta-version.
And this is more important for always-poor-pockets musicians !!!
If you LIKE VERY MUCH the project, you can use potentiometers and view this link:
http://web.tiscali.it/boxsmt2clone2005home/_web_doc_01/_doc_tech/BOXsMT2_clone2005_wiring_pots.jpg
In fact FREQ.trimmers must have the same level, otherwise IT CAN BUZZZZZZZZs.

WHY FOUR PCB-pieces ?

You can use only the principal one.
Then use wired connections to potentiometers and the external resistors and capacitor.
You must see the connections on the small secondary board and do them. OR goto this link:

WHY IT'S BETTER THE AC-ADAPTER INSTEAD OF BATTERY 9volt ?

The MT2 is a very BATTERY-KILLER !!!
It use 4-IC, a million of FETs-switch and TRANSISTORs-flip-flop and and and
We can find a old ac-adaptor EVERYWHERE (phones, calculators, toys, computer tools, ...)
With a simple "7809" IC-regulator and few capacitors, you MUST MAKE a adaptor.
It must output about 10volt, or 9volt exactly and, in this case, you must jump the protection-diode 1N4001 (D101).
This will be a next simple project.

WHY I DON'T FIND THE DESIGN FOR PRESSnPELL ?

ATTENTION:  in order to use the PnP, you must print the "mirrored" PCB on your laser.
If you are not make a mirrored design, now there is a new-file in the MT2clone2005 project-page

http://web.tiscali.it/boxsmt2clone2005home/_web_doc_01/tech_doc_03.htm

and have been also inserted at download-page in the total-file-project [3780KB], now ready at this link:

WHERE ARE THE LEDS IN THE PARTLIST.TXT ?

hooops, the leds ???? (on/off=green and active/not active=red):
in this two leds the pins ANODE (the longer) goes to the positive (VCC+).
PartList.txt is now right. go to this link:

Very good job! I'm MT2 fan too. My PCB layout measures 5X8 cm but I omitted the FET switching and the output buffer.

Good luck!

Jeez man, all that effort for a pedal you can get for $50 used :)  How much is an MT-2 in Italy?

Ditto.  8)

Back in the day, i got mine used for about u$s110 and it was a sweet deal. You must take into account that it was (still is ) u$s152 (CASH) for a new one, IF you found one, and unless you live in a big city, the shops usually have very little stock of everything. As a consequence, the second hand market is almost inexistant :x
Cut it large, and smash it into place with a hammer.

This is a not-technical post: I am an electronic technician, much friend of the DIY in electronics and I remark that:
ALL THIS JOB IS FREE and is only for an EDUCATIONAL attempt to the electronics and music... (in electronics sure) OTHER NOT IS...
I DO NOT SELL NOTHING but waiting when people make this in your personal mode ... Thanks for all.

ALL the job is along but very simplified now: you can make it or call a friend-electronic, that will be happy for making it for you and fun !!!

MetalGuy

The guy is right. Let's not forget that some of the people visiting this forum are building pedals not because they want to save 20-30$ but because they can't afford to spend an entire /or half/  salary for a new or used pedal.
I would never buy an MT2 as a pedal because I don't use pedals by themselves - I always build them into an amp or preamp.

Enjoy!

steve b.

Well said-------------------it's fun and diying is a learning process-and it fun to create it yourself. If not then just save up and buy your pedals

cd

Guys I was JOKING (note the use of a smiley: :) :) :) )  Not to mention being genuinely interested in mt2's rationale in cloning an inexpensive pedal.  If learning, using your skills, and helping out your kid (cost be damned) is your reason, great.  No need to take offence or be defensive about it.

Quote from: mt2clone2005....I think that who has the moneies and the way in order to buy a new MT2 or used also, goes well, there is OK !  BUT this is a web-site of gets passionate you of electronics or not?....

I think that he made it clear in his first post...

Nice project BTW.

The MT-2 has a lot of parts, so that's why not a lot of people built it.

I like the fact that you did it with many pcbs to be able to use each part separately.

Gilles

BTW, I once wanted to do the same with the OD-3

http://www.diystompboxes.com/cgi-bin/webbbs_scripts/webbbs_config.pl?read=296

I never had time to do it, so I just decided to buy one. But that would be one of the pedals that I would like to experiment with, like splitting the circuit in 2, and use only the first or second stage.

If you not find the PRESSnPELL, you can use the paper polished of the reviews.
In an area all-white you can print with laser the design MIRRORED of the pcb, then work with the iron for few minutes, about 5.
And then correct the design with the PEN for CDR-burn-writing.
This method of reverse-black-press goes well also for any white t-shirt.
In order to clean up the laser from a surplus of toner, you must print some sheet white completely.
