I just picked up a couple of blue LEDs from radio shack & the aint workin.
I'm just wondering if I picked up the wrong ones??
I tried them with a resistor & battery but no go.
Also picked up some small red leds & they work fine.

The blue ones are Radio Shack #276-143C (Intertan)
High Output Infrared LED
T-1 3/4 case
On the back it says...
Radiant Power Output (100mA):16mW (min)
Forward Voltage:1.2V
Forward Current:100mA
Viewing Angle to half intensity:45 degrees

any tips greatly appreciated
Thanks

You picked up a infared transmitter, not a blue LED. you want this

Blue LED

Infared transmitters are those little things at the end of the remote that send the signal to the TV.

Thanks ninoman!
Boy do I feel like a tool! hehe
Do you think I fried them by doing the test thing??

Cheers

I really don't know, but probably not. I'd say try to exchange them...if you can....you know how radioshack is...Dont feel like a tool, I did the same thing once too.

hehe
Well the guy there sold them to me as leds so I'll just blame him if I have to! LOL
We all know how knowledgeable RS employees can be! <G>
Actually one of them was a returned package so the last guy probably did the same thing!

Thanks
