I built a Si Tonebender MkII from RDVs site: http://mysite.verizon.net/res0o2zg/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/sitonebendermk.jpg

I used a 2K trim for attack. Q1,Q2 are 2n3904 w/ ~210 hFe, Q3 is 2n5088 with ~400 hFe.

It seems very distorted, really crunchy when cranked.  It does sound like the TB on homewrecker.com site.

It cleans up, rolling the guitar volume quickly (like by 9-8.5).  I don't have a Tonebender to compare it to, is this normal?  And is loads of crunch normal too?

I was think of having this circuit parallel with a Tube Reamer and have a pot to mix the 2 distortions sort of like the Roseyray w/o the filtering.  Any ideas?

Hello Hello--
Try putting a 1K attack pot in there instead of the 2K  and see how you like the sound and response.  The bias for Q3 changes if you mess with that pot value.
Brian.

I thought I had a 1K and 2K pots, I started looking through my supplies and I didn't have either.  I had to use a 2k trim just to get this thing going.

thanks for the suggestion.
