Hi this is Walters

" i'll be using the same Fuzz circuit"
1.) Whats the Difference if i built a fuzz unit with PNP stages with
the Battery Polarity of -9 volts
and i built another fuzz unit with NPN stage with the Battery
polarity of +9volts it would be the same fuzz circuit
     just complementary Matched.

2.) These would be Seperate Effects in different housings

3.) But what is the Difference between the PNP fuzz and the NPN fuzz ?

4.) is one Darker sounding because its -9 volts ?

5.) why would a Designer choose the -9volts PNP fuzz ?

thanks for your time and help

Use the "search" function, and also read "The Technology of the Fuzz Face". Here's a link to it....

-9V/PNP was used back in the days (1950`s, `60`s), because only properly working PNP transistors (germanium) were commonly available.

Stuff changed to positive supplies, when good working (silicon) transistors were developed (end of `60`s, `70`s), while the NPN versions of `em yielded "better" results.
