I'm sure this has been addressed before, but I can't find any threads on it...

I want to build a Kay Fuzztone and put it in a Crybaby case. The problem is that I need a 50k pot for it, and the pot in the crybaby case I found is 500k.

Seems like this has to have come up before...What's the best way to get a different valued pot to put in there? I opened up the old pot, and it doesn't have a wafer I can try to swap out.

Is there a place that sells wah/volume pots of different values? Or can I get a different kind of pot and somehow attach a pinion thingie to it?

mabey u could use this, click on linear pot and it will tell you how to get a desiered value. http://www.diystompboxes.com/analogalchemy/emh/emh.html

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

Pedal love

Thats the cool thing about a crybaby case, you can put almost any circuit in there.pl

Yupp like a phaser with speed control on the treadle.  8)
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

3 ways to do this

1.) to try to take off the shaft gear off the 500k wah pot and put it on the 50K pot

2.) or to use the 500K and put a resistor on the wiper and one side of
the pot. You have to cal. it out to find the resistor value in parallel
with the 500k pots wipe to make up 50K.

a.)  try putting a resistor across in parallel the outside terminals of the pot not the wiper terminal
b.) and then put another Resistor from the one of the outside terminal
and to the wiper u have to cal. it out
or the best is what i do is hook up 2 substitution resistor boxes
to find these 2 resistor values and try to get 50K
c.) This will give u a Different Taper for sure but its a close as i
         can get

You can redesign the circuit so its based around the 500K wah pot
just use the same schematic path ways and parts but would
all be different values to be the 50k pot now be 500K to be redesign
to it

I like that way of looking at things...
