BYOC screamer pots don't work?

Hi.

I've just made an attempt to build my first stompbox. I built the screamer-clone from buildyourownclone.com.

THE BACKGROUND:
The first shipment I got included all the parts except the LED and the bezel so I started building without it. I got the whole thing (except the LED) together and it worked perfectly.

A couple of days later the LED and bezel arrived and I installed it in the stompbox and then it stopped functioning all of a sudden. I get signal both in ON-mode and in BYPASS-mode, and the LED is lit when in ON-mode. But now, none of the pots seem to work correctly.

THE PROBLEM:
The tone-pot only works on the upper half of the spectrum (from 1 o' clock to 5 o' clock) but ONLY when I turn the volume pot all the way up and the it's the same with the gain pot. And I barely get any gain even if I turn it all the way up. And if I turn the volume pot all the way down, I've still got the same amount of volume as when it's turned off. Shouldn't there be zero volume when it is on and the volume is all the way down?

You paid big $$$ for a kit.  Why aren't you contacting BYOC for support?  That's the point of paying a premium for a kit, right?  It's their layout, their parts, their PCB - since it could be any number of problems, they know their product best and should be contacted *first* for support.  It's not like it's a freely available layout from Tonepad or GGG.  There's a lot of folks here who will gladly help you out, and this is not to discourage you from asking questions in the future, but consider the context and source - especially since BYOC have their own support forum.  It is not simply a case of people not affiliated with the company providing support for nothing - since that happens every day - but if I were BYOC, I wouldn't want my product being "supported" through a non-official source.  Say a PCB trace is read incorrectly and a "fix" is posted here, 100 people read it and mess up their kit.  Who's going to take the flak when the whole thing is messed up?  Certainly not the free forum where you got "help" - it's all going to fall on the originating company.
