Cheap non-DIY pedals

I grabbed one of those SAD-3 analog delays. For $19.99 you can hardly go wrong. I've heard it's not great for warm analog delays, but if you play with trimpots, it can give some very interesting lo-fi distorted repeats.

I figured it was worth checking out for $20.

Anyone know the differences between the SAD-3 and the SAD-1? Could I potentially just swap out the chip, or were there other changes?

Oh, come on. We regularly discuss modifications to pedals and pedals that might be readily (and/or cheaply) modifiable. A little off-topic perhaps, but nevertheless an area of interest to many folks, plus it led to a technical query that is relevant.

The very existence of these pedals leads us to re-evaluate the need or desirability of rolling our own. One day (perhaps about two years ago), it'll no longer be worth considering home-brewing a delay-based pedal, f'rinstance.

BTW, if you answer this, I'll know that you wasted your time coming back to this OT thread just to have a peek... :wink:

     the fact is , that you "CAN" get a device for a fair price and enjoy or mod it.
