How do I add a dc jack to this while retaining use of the battery clip? I haven't a clue how to do this.

hello. i have the same model of wah wah with a true bypass through dpdt switching and a dc jack. when you buy the dc jack, make sure that the terminals are isolated from the shielding, so don't get a metal chassis that would connect the signal to the grounding on the unit.

i took a picture for you. i'ts quite large and detailed"

i used a switched chassis so that when something is plugged in to it, it overrides the battery, and when it is empty, it of course uses the battery power. basically, you can see that the negative line from the socket is spliced in at the end of the battery, and also connects to the board. the positive line has to be switched, so one line goes from the board to the socket, and the other goes from the battery to the socket. you'll have to get these around the right way in regards to the direct positive line and the switched line. other than that, try not to stuff up the polarity, test the chassis with a multimeter or similar to find what terminals go where.

HOWEVER... when i first did this I was very disappointed at the quality of tone of the pedal. ssually batteries sound much nicer than dc power converted from ac, but this was too noticeable. i tried a different power supply all together (boss) and got the same result. after that i gave up until one day when i used my friend's power supply (some cheap piece of crap too!) and it sounded just as good as a battery. i'm not sure if it was to do with the quality of regulation, or amperage or something, but it only sounded good on 1/3 of the power supplies.

i hope that this helps (:

Sorry if I'm resurrecting this post... It's just that I got a used V847 last night and was wondering how to put a DC jack to avoid batteries, so I wanted to thank you for the detailed instructions.  Worked well for me!!

Now I'm looking forward the bypass mod... This thing really sucks tone!
