I like multistrand 22 ga. Unless it is ridiculously high gain, you probably don't need shielded wire on the input of a pedal. But if you do, I like to use RG-174. It's small and easy to work with.

You and I "we"? Probably. The folks who are embarassed or scared to ask simple questions that might not be in the FAQ or show up immediately in a search, maybe not.

I just did a search for "shield input" and got 94 hits - half of which look like they have nothing to do with that query. "Shielded input" returned 181...that's a lot of wading for a beginner (or anyone) who could otherwise have looked at recently posted question. Guess my point was lost.
