Hi...
I consider to try to make my first stomp, and got interesten in the Insanity Box.

How does it sound?

Does any one have a sound sample I could listen to of that box?

Since I'm pretty new to this, I wonder if there is some types of component that is perfered.
Metalfilm, or carbon resistors etc...

Cheers  :D

I have read on this board that sometimes you can get a bad CD4049 chip.. how do you tell it's bad?  Will it be obvious, like in gating, or some subtle sound difference?

Thanks

Hey Jack, is that you playing? GOOD METAL MAN!

The Insanity had direct coupled CD4049 stages. I guess if I had to redo it now, I would use capacitors in between the stages. OTOH, I have not had much luck lately with the 4049.  :(

You and me both !!
I seem to get kind of "gate/splatt/cutoff" on most things ... even after hours of "debug" !!

I had a Lama / TSF type thing using a UB4049, that thing sounded great, had no sockets, looked like a clean, solid build...just acted funny one time, the next time and all subsequent times up to the point I salvaged parts off it..sure sounded like a whompin' tube amp for a while though. I never figured out Whappenned to that one.
