Demonstrative terms make it much easier for the reader, than the use of the word 'it'...in conversation it means anything.
It seems perfectly obvious what it means when your'e typing about it after just looking at it for an hour...be aware that the reader has no way of knowing what it is you're referring to with the use of the word it to reference...say a *cable, or perhaps a *box, even a *circuit.
When you understand it, not because you've typed about the circuit, but because you've very recently spent hours looking at it, it can be hard to pick out of the text where the use of it causes others to become confused about it, and what 'it' refers to.

So Pete, what is "it" ?

As far as stephen King goes "it" was a "Ghost Clown/Murderer"  !!

"it", silly....
Little time to do it right. Always time to do it over.

Lol, yea, petemoore, you used it 14 times in your post.

Hey, let's quit using "this", "he", "she", "they", "us", "those", "them" too :D

Come on, just try to search the forums for "it". The chances are you'll never find the "it" you're looking for because of the excessive use of the word.

Ok, ok, actually I got what you ment. Let's rephrase the request. When posting, people should mention the subject at least once. :)

"It" Whewww. I thought you meant "is" there for a minute, and Clinton didn't even know that definition!

I, too, am a grammar nerd. I, too, have wanted to post numerous general comments about grammar and how to properly communicate one's thoughts. This is a good example.

Another would be that if your post is a question, use a question mark; that's what they're for by definition. Example, if you a re looking for a Blackfire Soundclip, make your title "Uglyface soundclip?" if you like. Or if you are searching for the schematic to a Marshall Shredmaster (and have done the obligatory forum search, googling or equivalent), write "Shredmaster Schematic?" The question mark indicates that you are looking for, and not providing, and answer. This way the many people who are also looking for said schematic/soundclip don't get all hot and bothered because they think you've posted a soundclip/schematic.

And avoid use of the pronoun "it."

And "these." And "that." at least as pronouns. It is better to use them as specifiers, ex. "that schematic," "this rash," etc.

[Sorry folks, I needed to purge.]

To the lounge!

My friend has a knee that pops in and out of place during common daily activities (sitting, standing, kneeling).  I asked him how it happened, and he said he injured it years ago when, as a nine or ten-year old, he was walking by a sewer (or something- keep in mind I haven't seen the movie) and he was sure he heard a laugh come from inside.  He panicked and started to run, and that's when he fell and twisted his knee.

Parents, don't let your children watch horror movies (or grow up to be cowboys).

I'll take a shot.

I may not know what IT is but I'm pretty sure this is OT.

Having read all of the above, I must say that a statement such as "it is what it is" is very confusing...  :?

...I might be a scatered brain, a wondering mind, absentminded or whatever, but ...at the moment, "IT" is the movie "the terminal", four or five pages on the internet an old binder full of schematics and the "chilli" cooking in my kitchen...and I've just spent a few hours looking at "IT"....
