I'm thinking about adding an expression pedal jack to my neovibe build, but wanted to check first to see if anyone has done this and if there are any pitfalls to doing this?

Thanks,

Andy

my dad has an original shin-ei univibe, and while the pedal sounds killer, the expression pedal puts it over the top into essential-must-have-effect territory, IMO.  I'm getting ready to build a neovibe, and wondered myself how to go about doing it.  On the original, you can use it or remove it and use the knob thats already on the unit.  However, if you add a expression pedal on the neovibe, removing it will leave you unable to change the speed (as far as I can tell, please correct me if I'm wrong!)

you can use a switching jack, so that the knob is not functional when the expression pedal is plugged in, and functional when its not.

What would you have the expression pedal control?
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

Thanks for the information.  I am still in the learning phase and any information i can get my hands on helps alot.  I have to say i'm not the best at reading schematics and turning them into workable layouts, but i can get the gist of what the schematic is telling me.  I am definitely going to read over the stuff at GEOFEX as soon as time permits.

Thanks,

Andy

Having read the articles at Geofex, i have a question about the expression pedal article.  it recommends using 1/8" stereo jacks/plugs, and i understand why, but my question is would it be possible to use a stereo switching XLR jack for this as well?  or am i thinking of something that doesn't exist... I found one at parts express that says its a stereo switching XLR, but its one of Neutriks hybrid 1/4"/XLR jacks...

Thanks,
