How to calculate the roll of frequency of the tone control?

brett

Hi.
Because there's lots of different sorts of tone controls, there's many answers to this.

If it's a simple high or low frequency filter, use fc= 1/(2.pi.R.C) where fc is in Hertz, pi=3.14, R is in ohms and C is in Farads.
fc is the half-power point, or -3 dB, where the frequencies have *just begun* to be reduced (ie the cut is barely audible at the cutoff frequency).

Hope this helps.

There's also lots on the web about tone controls.
