I finished boxing up my Dual AMZ MOSFET booster/buffered FX loop box over the weekend. It isn't painted yet; I'm still working on the graphics. I want it to be sexy.

I used a 1590B because I wantd the battery in. The toggles and 4 extra jacks took up a lot of room.

THANKS SO MUCH to Aron for getting me started witht he beginner project, all of the people who have answered my questions over the lat year and a half. Thanks for Jack Orman for this wonderful little circuit, prophecysound.com for designing the dual booster, and GGG for printing it. If I fogot anyone, I apoligize; I could go on forever.

Here's my wiring diagram:

A look at the top w/ send/return for both channels:

It looks like you have a Tri-Color Led There !!! Pretty snazzy !!
And quite the useful box for the FX Chain DIY-er...Excellent !!!
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

Ya, I really love the LED. I decided to do it that way one day at work when my boss was setting up a server computer. I was "called in" to check the LED's status, because he's colorblind--but the bi-color LED's were used to indicate three different states. I figured my booster couldn't be done any other way.

hey ryan!  you rule.  great job.  what do you think of the boost?  have you tried using it like a super duper?

I finished this a while ago, but never got around to posting it. Here are the finished pics.

(In a few weeks I should have my dremel-brushed uglyfacer pedal finished, too.)

I really like the boost. It's fairly clean, but when cranked, it will distort just enough. I definitely recommend adding a volume pot before the output on each boost, because then you can crank the boost to distort, but reduce the volume so that it's not too loud.

And the distortion gained from using it, as you say, like a super-duper it nice. It's not very pronounced, and I don't think I would use it for that too much, but it's definitely a nice feature.

The unfortunate thing about turning it into an fx loop box is that it loses its value as a booster (most of the time) because it's just so much more useful as an FX loop controller. It's harder to justify using it as a simple dual booster. However, I also built Gus's Clean boost from the beginner project, and so I don't really need 3 boosters.

I would highly recommend the mods I made (adding 100k volume pot, fx send/return jacks with switch). They have come in handy.

Gauss, did you finish the AMZ MOSFET that you were intending to build?
