I built it using the layout and schematic from the above site. The only thing I changed was to use a 2N3904 in place of the BC546. The pinout on the layout was reversed compared to the 3904's pinout.

It fired up right away and it sounds great. Each of the controls has a noticable effect on the sound and with some fiddling it will give a reasonably good accoustic emulation (I tested with a cheap Les Paul copy into a JC120). I particularly like the sheen that the treble control gives when turned up.

It's not just an acoustic emulator though. It will give some interesting lofi sounds with the bass and treble turned down and the mid turned up as well as a good straight bass boost with just the bass turned up. More restrained use of the controls adds a bit of 'exciter' type of sound.

It sounds more acoustic than Mark Hammer's 'Woody', but to be fair the Woody is a much simpler build and I think Mark will say that the Woody was never intended to be a full on emulator. Both are worth building.

Kudos to a fellow Canuck for the great layout.

Hi,

After four months I finally found the time to build my own!... And I realized I made a couple of little errors in my layout:
1) a jumper is indicated to be soldered to the same point (hole) of a resistor: probably who has used my layout realized as well! It only needs to be shifted one hole aside.
2) C40, the 10u cap I added (together with R56) to make the circuit more similar to the original ac-2, is placed "after" C35 in my layout, while it should receive the signal "before" C35. However, I'm pretty sure this error doesn't affect the sound of the circuit.
3) the orientation of J1 is wrong, you must rotate it.

I sent a corrected layout to Marcos, hopefully he will soon update it on his site.

This pedal is amazing! And if you combine it to a chorus you get a really wonderful sound!

Again, thanks to http://pages.infinit.net/cbriere/_sgt/f10000.htm.

The only little problem I found is a little low output. I have to keep the level pot on max, but it would still need a little more volume. Did anyone notice as well or did I make a mistake somewhere?
