Hello-

Got it up and running last night. Missed a connection back up to the +9V and had a very small piece of wire grounding one of the output capacitors.
#2 -- I built a fuzz face last night after getting the Pepper up and running. Wow.... A fuzz is a lot of fun, and quite the weapon. It cleans up beautifully, and I can't wait to put it through my little Champ today. Thanks for all your help and suggestions.

Up for some help.

It seems that the Mosfet stage isn't doing something. Is there something wrong with my wiring of the beginning of the cicuit? I'll recheck and see what happens. Moving the gate of the Mosfet to the Drain portion yields a lower output, lo-fi effect, but there is sound. Any ideas? Thanks.

First of all, there's got to be a good reason why your MOSFET drain is at 0V - namely, it isn't connected in any way to the +9V line, or is simultaneously earthed. Remember, you're measuring 0V OUTSIDE the MOSFET.

Secondly, some plated jack tags can be very hard to solder to. Try roughening them up with emery, but make sure you wipe the dust off before soldering. Tin them first with solder, then attach the wire - don't try to do both at once.

Sounds good Ge. I'll take that into consideration. Those jacks frustrate me.

Was the Fuzz Face your first fuzz?

Actually, jmusser, yes it was. And I was pleasantly suprised. Very very nice circuit. I didn't blow anything up. It sounds much more powerful through a louder(ish) tube amp.. My little Champ likes the fuzz... and I think I like it too.   :)

Well, I'm glad everything worked out well for you, although I'm sure you know by now, it's only going to lead to yet another fuzz. I have one to finish up in the morning (Whisker Biscuit) and that'll make about 30! No, I'm not addicted, I can quit anytime I want.
