Well i thought summer was gonna shape up to be stompbox heaven for me... seems i had more time when I was away at school... perhaps cuz it was easier to shirk responsibility and whatnot...

But now I'm busy doing feet-killing work from 7 to 5 most days, sometimes out of town for a night or two.  I haven't built nearly as much as I planned to... once in a while I'll get into it and stay up til 3 or 4 to finish something.  But at least, instead of building new circuit boards, for the most part, im boxing up the ones I have.

I still have about 300$ in parts to attend to though.  Just not tonight...  i only got a 15 minute break at 10, and no lunch.  It's almost bedtime now, too.  :?

Currently my problem isnt time its having money to buy components... :x I have ran out of pots, jacks, enclosures and some values of capacitors, with only maplin near me, i decided to wait till i have some money to buy a bulk load of components online.
I have just got a new job for the summer. Soon money wont be an obstacle. Plus my new job is pretty flexible with regards to working hours.

I dont have any kids and my g/f is very cool about my hobbies.

So, instead of buying components or actually building any circuits I am developing an ever growing list of circuits I want to do when i can buy the components. Doesnt take alot of time, but it certainly is frustrating.

I can stay awake all night.
And I will make mistakes all right.

What i try to do is a little bit here and there...Trouble is I end up on the forum for hours and time flies by.

Too much info to read through sometimes, after you wade past the 800th

It's now been a year since I didn't post anything. For I'm a student of physics (outside germany it would be called master, I guess, here it's called Diplom) and by the time I have much to do with quantum mechanics. This is why there are several etched boards waiting to get packed - I have the feeling they have to wait for some time...the thing is very complicated. As my prof used to say: You can't understand quantum mechanics you just can get used to it!

Good to see several people have got wise to the "no TV" deal. Not having a TV is like the Beatles song, you get "eight days a week" you know where the extra one came from!
I keep each 'ongoing' project inside a plastic case (like a tackle box but wihtout dividers) along with any specialist parts. It is very bad to lose time hunting for a part :x
The other thing is, you can't solder on a train (I did see a guy wirewrapping!!! once) but, you can work out circuits & scratch out a stripboard layout.
But if it is ever a choice between play with the kids or build FX, play with the kids. :D

Hey Tomboy, i have recently been cloning the EH Clone theory. working from your schem and the original. Did you ever manage to clone one?

wow, lots of good advice and responses, thanks!

The no-TV is probably key.  I get sucked into Law and Order reruns.  The problem is, the show is on 24 hours a day!!

I do all my layouts and simulation on the train I take every day - comuter trains are an interesting social phenomina for sure!    But, for 1.5 hours a day I have time to devote to all the background effects stuff - and that is a huge asset as well - especially reading all the AMZ stuff.

Well there's not much to watch anymore ... I work all day editing Dialog for TV and Film so I guess at the end of an 8 hr day watching TV is the last thing I wanna do :)

I do enjoy watching CSI with my wife however, but usually just before bed as she's allready watching it in the bedroom :D ....

Doesn't work if you (the collective "you") have traded TV-time for computer/internet time --as I did in 1990. Web-browsing is a seductive siren for the information thirsty, and addiction is addiction.

Good call.
At least get out and interact with people.

That's good news, really! Unfortunately I didn't manage do build one, yet.
But tell me, how did it come out?

well, I simply don't find time, and 90% of my projects keep shelfed. BUT my wife will be away for a month, and a mouser order has just arrived. It's now or never!

Well, I have done the PCB layout. I havent built anything yet. Low on money.
But its top of my list of projects. you can see the results for yourself. There was an error in your schem pin 4 of MN3007 should go to ground and not pin 11 of CD4047, pin 6 of the MN3007 should go to pin 11 of CD4047 instead. There was also a cap that should have been 270n instead of 270pF.

The thread is here. Has a link to two PCB layouts.

Perhaps you can add to it.   :)

sorry, nelson: 270n is 0.27µ...
but you had 270pF in the LFO...
