managed to find myself a fun project at a carboot sale today

as the title says i nabbed myself a Safgan Oscilloscope, model DT-420 according to the front, for the meager sum of 5GBP

upon inspection it seems that it turns on but when i connect a wire (no proper probes atm) from one of the inputs to the 1khz calibration point im not able to get anything on either channel.

ive opened it up and i can see a few possible problem parts, some slight PCB heat damage, some tropical fish caps (dont think it has tone mojo tho :P) than have cracked open and a few places where wires seem to be possibly missing

what would be amazinglly helpful is if anybody knew where i could get some info on it, service manuals, schematics etc. a quick look around google hasn't brought up very much apart from a few auctions etc so any help people could give would be greatly welcomed.

if it ends up that i cant do anything with it ill canibalise it in some way, maybe take out the nice fish caps and a few other bits to make back my money

cheers in advance for any help

well if nobody is able to help me with a schem then fair enough but might someone at least gimme a help with working out these caps lol

standard looking tropical fish cap.
from top to bottom its:

brown
black
yellow
black
orange

now i get that 1st band and 2nd band are the first 2 digits, 3rd is multiplier, 4th is tolerance and 5th is most likelly voltage rating in this case, but i havnt been able to find a capacitor calculator that has yellow as a multiplier

neither do i remember black being a tolerance rating for either caps or resistors

the calculators i have found have orange as a 600V rating.

my thoughts are that its either a 10nF, or 100nF (given size) but im not sure whether thats accurate or how much help measuring one of the buggers would be seeing as im not sure if any of them are still ok.

this could be a trickier project than i thought, oh well, gives me something to do :P

EDIT:

just unsoldered one, seems that i didnt have the colour bands quite right.

its from top to bottom:

Brown
Black
Yellow
Black
Red
Brown

now im confuzzled
