With a serious lack of funds    I was itching to do some sort of project I have plenty of components lying around dual opamps huge range of resistors caps trannies etc but no enclosures pots or sockets..

. I decided to warm up my soldering iron and mess around with my BF-2. After using the much neglected search function I came across a mod posted by Mark Hammer(Thanks Mark!), replacing C7 and C21 with .01uF caps, if i understand him correctly it reduces the low frequency in the regen path and in theory should get rid of the "tinny" "metallic" sound that is the major shortcoming of the BF-2 flanger. I replaced the caps with the suggested values. Unfortunately I wont be able to fire up my amp till tommorow. I will let you guys know how it turns out.

Anyone else performed this mod and what othermods would you  recommend?

I'll be interested to hear the results, but I kinda like that metalic sound! Maybe different for me because I'm a bass player.

Hey nelson, if you need the schematic, I have it and I also have the BF-2B schematic so you can compare the two.  All the cap changes that Mark mentioned in a thread I found turn it in to the bass flanger, which is cool because I like that one better anyway.

I play bass mainly so I would love the BF-2B schematic, I have the BF-2 schem.

i have changed alot of caps in my bf-2 to get rid of the Metallic tone and I really like it alot, not as thin sounding. I also did the indyguitarist spaceship mod and put it on a switch which was really great for my progressive/post punk rock music.

Ok, I got a chance to mess around with the BF-2 briefly. The sound is "fuller"  and It is now possible to get a decent flanger sound on clean guitar!!! I do notice a slight volume increase when the effect is switched on, this is probably due to the switching employed by the unit   .

Anyway I recommend this simple mod to make the flanger fuller sounding.

Now, changing it into a bass flanger I feel wont be worth it as the flanger basically sucks anyway and I wouldnt want to spoil my bass sound with it   .

Cant wait to get some cash so I can build a decent flanger.......Dlx elec mistress.... :D

I wouldnt mind modding it to make some V weird noises......
