Hi.

I've reversed engineered the Frequency analyzer and I wanted to post some stuff and notes in case someone needs them for fixing a mulfunctioning devise.

Have fun!

ps. perhaps someone can post those files on a site or something...

...and here are a few possible mods.

@Use a heavy duty dpdt for the "filter" instead of the slide switch.

@Use an extra jack and control the "shift" with an external expression
pedal.

@Use a switch and a LDR to control the "shift" pot ala theremin style.

@Add a led. Preferably a big blue one!

@Use a feedbacker (Total sonic Annihilation etc) among the input and
outputs! See what happens...

...and here is a nice template (made with the mspaint) with a few parts for anyone that needs them.

Basstyra this is the old version of the Frequency analyzer with the AD533 chip.
The layouts and the "bill of materials" that I posted are from the recent version of the EH ring modulator with the AD633 chip.

Nevermind 8)  they actually have lots of common parts anyway... 8)

Basstyra

Yeah, I know. I just couldn't resist to show you my recently totally repaired pedal !  :D

Basstyra: are you sure you hardwired the ground-lead of the mains wire to the chassis? (the green/yellow one for "safety"...).
And isolated the 230V connections well enough?

hi guys! thanks for the info. Does anybody has the schem for the ad633 F. analyzer?? Thanks a lot!

Basstyra

I got that here, but I didn't find the thread.

I can put it online, but right now I'm not home, I'll do this as soon as I get home.

hey i need pictures of the inside of the older FA. I have one that is out of order. i need pictures of the switch, and where all the other wires go. if i get it working i am hoping to sell it. any help will be much appreciated.

I wonder how it would effect the sound to tap a different wave shape off the ICL8038.

Fp-www.Tonepad.com

Pardon my ignorance. But, what does it do?

I think I have that schematic... somewhere  ::)

fp, it's a ring modulator.
One thing I don't like: using an 8038 as the local oscillator.. you can't get a wide enough range (for my extreme tastes) plus, the 8038 is hella thirsty on power.
And the AD633 is relatively expensive (but, in my opinion, worth it! if you want to be able to null out oscillator bleed).

vigorandkandor

bump for the picture.

come on basstyra i know you could open yours up and help me out.

:'( please :icon_sad:

Sgt_Rutters

Here's the inside of my old Frequency Analyzer, hope this helps!

Sgt_Rutters

Ah, just realized you might have been talking about the stompswitch...if so, the yellow cable goes to one side with a jumper from it to the other side of the switch both on the bottom lugs, then the black wire from the pot on the left in the picture is attached across from the yellow cable.  Hope that makes sense...

vigorandkandor

kinda of makes since. if you could get a picture of it that would clear everything up. thanks so much for your help!
